Biography of O.Sullivan
Timothy O.Sullivan was born either in Ireland or New York in 1840. During the Civil war he worked as a photographer for Matthew Brady. Brady took the credit for all of his photos that he took during the civil war. So he and fellow photographer Alexander Gardener left to take their own pictures. In 1867 he was given U.S Geology Survey. He was the first man to take a picture in a mineshaft. He looked for a good spot for the Panama canal but they did not find a subtable spot. He brought back many beautiful pictures of panama. He continued to work for the US government until 1880 when he got the job as the Official Photographer for the US Treasury. He died just a few months later when he was just 42 years old. It is unknown if he ever a wife or kids.
