Finals Extra Credit

1. The man was pushed off the platform by a panhandler. The Photographer attempted to use his flash to signal the train conductor. That is how the photo was taken.

2. To signal the coming train to stop.

3. He probably should have helped the guy if he was close enough.

4. Trying to flash the Train Conductor is not the best of ideas, but this event seemed to have happened very fast. He most likely was not thinking clearly.

5. I do believe that it was a good idea to run this photo. It allowed this mans tragic story to be told instead of forgotten.

6. If possible it is best to save the person rather than standing by. At the end of the day saving a life means more than your job.

7. A man about to die on the tracks is outside the realm of Photo ethically, but most of the time the photographer should avoid interfering with his or her photo.

8. If the situation allows the photographer to rationally not interfere and still get the photo it should be taken.

9. To at least try to help the guy, I'm sure the reason why the photographer didn't was a mixture of fear and maybe a subconscious desire to take the photo to further his own career. Other people on the platform did nothing to help either so it is not all his fault.
